IntelliGolf Birdie Edition "version 5.x" P900/910 (Java) Customers
If you are currently running the IntelliGolf Birdie edition "version 5.x" on your P900/910 and Windows PC, before installing IntelliGolf "version 8" on your PC and smartphone, please complete the steps below.
- Make a back-up copy of your IntelliGolf database (.gdb) on your PC. You can copy it to a diskette, CD-R, or create a back-up file on your hard drive. It's your choice. The golf database (.gdb) file name and location is listed at the bottom of the IntelliGolf "Rounds" screen on your PC (e.g. C:\ProgramFiles\IntelliGolf\golf.gdb). Note: When you (later) install the IntelliGolf Upgrade (version 8), it will not overwrite your existing IntelliGolf database. However, it is always a good idea to backup your golf database before doing any upgrades.
- Locate the IntelliGolf Eagle Upgrade Version 8 .EXE file that you purchased and downloaded to your desktop computer. The file name should be (something like) igeagleupP9x_8039.exe. Simply double-click on that file and the IntelliGolf installation process will start. Just follow the on-screen instructions.
- After the IntelliGolf Upgrade installation has finished, please start IntelliGolf on your desktop computer. Tab though the Rounds, Players, and Courses screens and select the rounds, courses and players that you would like to synchronize to your smartphone. Tip - You can left-click on each item to add the blue sync icon to it. Note: Leave the IntelliGolf desktop software up and running on your PC.
- Start IntelliGolf (version 8) on your smartphone while leaving it the cradle. Since this is the first time that IntelliGolf version 8 has been started on your smartphone, you will be presented with a Sync Settings screen. Tap on the Start button. You will be presented with some Midlet options. Select the one that reads "Allow, until midlet ends" then tap on OK. A synchronization screen will appear on both your PC and smartphone. When the synchronization has completed, the words "Sync completed" will appear at the bottom of your smartphone. Tap on Done. Select your unit of measure (e.g. Yards or Meters), tap on Done, and you should now be at the Rounds screen. You're done.

IntelliGolf Birdie Edition version 2/3/4.x (AppForge Booster) P900/910 Customers
If you are currently running the IntelliGolf Birdie edition "version 2.x/3/x/4.x" on your P900/910 and Windows PC, before installing IntelliGolf "version 8" on your PC and smartphone, please complete the steps below.
- Start IntelliGolf (version 2.x, 3.x or 4.x) on your desktop computer. Start the AppForge Booster version of IntelliGolf
on your smartphone (version 2.x, 3.x or 4.x). At the bottom of the IntelliGolf rounds screens (on your smartphone), tap on
the Synchronization Icon (
) and follow the on-screen instructions. Once the synchronization process has completed, your latest rounds, players, and courses should all be present in the IntelliGolf desktop software. Please "exit" IntelliGolf on your smartphone and "close" IntelliGolf on your desktop computer.
- Uninstall the AppForge Booster/CrossFire version of IntelliGolf from your smartphone. To do this, tap on the Applications menu at the top of your smartphone. Select Uninstall, then select IntelliGolf, then Unistall, then Yes, then Done. IMPORTANT - Do not uninstall the IntelliGolf "desktop" software from your PC. The new IntelliGolf Upgrade (version 8) software will take care of that for you. It will also transfer all of your previous rounds, players, and courses to the new IntelliGolf (version 8) format.
- If IntelliGolf is the only application that uses the AppForge Booster/CrossFire software on your smartphone, you can also uninstall Booster and its related components. That will save you about 2Mb of smartphone memory. If other applications are using the AppForge software, please skip to #5 (below). To uninstall the AppForge components, tap on the Applications menu at the top of your smartphone. Select Uninstall, then select AFDatabase, then Unistall, then Yes, then Done. Repeat this process for the files named AFSymbianOS, AppForge Booster, and AppRegistration. All gone :-)
- Return to your list of smartphone applications by tapping on the Applications logo (top right) on your smartphone.
- Place your smartphone back into its cradle.
Congratulations! You have just completed the IntelliGolf version 2/3/4.x and AppForge removal sections. Now you are ready to install IntelliGolf version 8.0!

IntelliGolf "Par" edition P900/910 Customers
Since the IntelliGolf Par edition (version 2/3/4/5.x) software that you previously purchased did not come with the IntelliGolf "desktop" software (included in the Eagle/Birdie edition, above), there is no way for you to save your current rounds, players, or courses during the Version 8.0 upgrade process. As such, when you install the IntelliGolf Eagle/Birdie Upgrade (version 8.0) it will overwrite all of your previous handheld data (i.e. rounds, courses, and players). However, the good news is that as a new Eagle/Birdie edition customer, you will have the future ability to synchronize (i.e. save) all or your new rounds, players, and courses to the included Eagle/Birdie edition "desktop" software.
- Before installing IntelliGolf "version 8" on your smartphone, please complete Steps #1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 (above) under the Eagle/Birdie edition installation section. That will remove your (older) IntelliGolf Par edition version 2.x/3.x/4.x software and the AppForge Booster software from your smartphone. Step #2 is not required as your Par edition software did not come with the Eagle/Birdie edition's Windows-based desktop software for back-up purposes. Note: since your previously purchased Par edition version 2.x/3.x/4.x software did not come with the Eagle/Birdie edition's desktop software, there is no way to back-up your existing rounds, players, and courses. They will be deleted during the installation process. However, in the future, you will have the ability to back-up your new rounds, courses, and players as your are now upgrading to the IntelliGolf Eagle/Birdie edition software.
- To begin the IntelliGolf version 8 upgrade process, please locate the IntelliGolf Eagle Upgrade version 8 .EXE file that you purchased and downloaded to your desktop computer. The file name should be (something like) igeagleupP9x_8039.exe. Simply double-click on that file and the IntelliGolf installation process will start. Just follow the on-screen instructions. Once the installation process is done, you will be ready to golf.

IntelliGolf P800 Customers
IntelliGolf Version 8 is a JAVA, MIDP 2.0-based application. Since the P800 only includes JAVA, MIDP 1.0, unfortunately IntelliGolf version 8 will not run on the P800. You can contact Sony Ericsson to see if there is a way to upgrade your P800 to support JAVA, MIDP 2.0. To date, we have not been able to find such a solution.
